When the Catastrophe became an Opportunity!

A lot has changed after the surge of the historical COVID-19 pandemic. The catastrophe, however, made people discover other ways to still connect and continue functioning without stepping a foot outside and not meeting people face-to-face. The point is, it sure was a depressing event, but it was also an experience that drove our community to become the most resourceful version of ourselves.
One very significant progress was the work-from-home set-up. People were still able to continue with their work and provide for their families as companies resorted to this setup. Zoom meetings, Google meets, and other platforms were used to maximize the time during the lockdown and to also make up for the time that has been lost due to the surge.
But this does not only benefit those that were already employed as the situation also caused a significant rise in job openings for remote working. Surely, these openings had been around way before Covid, but jobseekers have now become a lot more aware and educated about these opportunities.
As restrictions were lifted little by little, many have returned to their usual office routine. However, a lot also realized how it is not only convenient but also very efficient to be working from the comfort of one’s home. And with that, people continue to lean towards home-based job opportunities.
Working from home does have its downsides as well. However, many still prefer it because as a personal preference, the pros just significantly outweigh the cons. For instance, in this setting, you wouldn’t need to spend so much time tidying yourself up as your work can easily start the moment you open your computer at home. Another would be getting more time to spend with your family, especially during breaks. And definitely, one of the best things is getting rid of the commute. Everyone probably has their own stories about how commuting to work is a day-to-day tragedy. Hence, getting to avoid it entirely is definitely a big plus! Flexibility, less commuting expense, better work-life balance, the list just never ends! Working from home, however, requires employees to do their part as well. For this set-up to work, it requires thorough time management and self-discipline to still deliver the best output possible as well as to avoid overworking. But that’s a topic for another article!
Change is inevitable. And it is amazing how our society was able to adapt to these changes. Who knows? We might find far better ways to earn a living in the future! For now, let us continue being grateful, and appreciate how something so tragic was turned into an opportunity to having a better state of life.
