On my previous job as a CAD/CAM Engineer/ QA Manager, I would often be involved in inspecting machined parts using a CMM Machine. This CMM machine release dimension results which I'll have to encode to a client inspection template. Each dimension had to be analyzed whether it passes the quality standard or not. If it is non-compliant, I would have to prepare an Non-compliance report which will indicate what features/dimensions are non-compliant, why it is non-compliant, personnel involve, etc. which will then have to be presented to the client for their approval.

When I used to work as a Mechanical Design Engineer, part of my tasks were to prepare a Bill of Materials for the design that I had made. I would research on components that can be purchased, search on suppliers to outsource parts manufacturing, provide links and contact numbers for easier transaction, get quotations and put all details into the Bill of Materials.
