I was a former OFW in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a Respiratory Therapy Technician since 2010, finished my contract last Nov 2021 due to Saudization. I love to travel and explore. • Sets up and operates devices such as Mechanical Ventilators, CPAP/BIPAP Machines, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC),therapeutic gas administration apparatus, vapazole nebulization, oxygen concentrators and other aerosol generator following parameter of treatment.
• Assist the physician during intubation or during Code Blue and tracheostomy procedures.
• Provides emergency care including artificial respirator, external cardiac massage and assisting with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Part of RRT Team. Intervene prior to deterioration of patients.
• Determine requirements for treatment such as type, method, and duration of therapy, precautions to be taken and medication and dosages compatible with physicians’ instructions.
• Monitor patient’s physiological responses to therapy and physician if adverse reactions occur. Report all adverse reaction to pharmacist by filling up Adverse Reaction Form.
• Read prescription, measure arterial blood gases (ABG), and review patient information to assess patient condition.
• Inspect, clean, test and maintain respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is always in good shape and functioning safely and efficiently. Request work order if the equipment requires repair. Ensure the PPM Program is follow by the Bio-med Technician.
• Educate patient and their families about their conditions and teach appropriate disease management techniques such as breathing exercises and the use of medication and respiratory equipment.
• Performs and relay Blood Gas Analysis (ABG) results to physicians when needed.
• Perform Pulmonary Function test (PFT) and adjust equipment to obtain optimum results in therapy.
• Perform Peak Expiratory Therapy (PEFR) as per physicians order.
• Perform Broncho-pulmonary drainage and assist or instruct patient in performances of breathing exercises (IS) and collect Sputum Induction.
• Performs Chest physiotherapy (CPT) to infant, pediatric and adult patients.
• Demonstrate respiratory care procedure to trainee and other health care personnel and assign a preceptor for each trainee.
• Teach, train, supervise and be part of the Orientation Team Program.
• Receive and give accurate thorough shift reporting regarding patient’s progress and condition assigned to patients.
• Conduct and participate in team conferences.
• Participate in ongoing evaluation of own performance and seek new learning opportunities when appropriate.
• Attends mandatory education programs, e.g. BCLS, ACLS and PALS, Safety Infection Control, Nebulization and Arterial Blood Gas puncture and airway maneuver.
• Keeps abreast of changes within the hospital by reviewing policies and procedures, unit meeting minutes, and hospital memorandum.
• Maintain competence and awareness of new trends in respiratory practice through participation in service and independent study.
• Performs bronchial hygiene procedure like nasopharyngeal suctioning, oropharyngeal suctioning, endotracheal suctioning and perform postural drainage and deep breathing maneuver (I.S).
• Assist the physician during intubation or during Code Blue and tracheostomy procedures.
• Provides emergency care including artificial respirator, external cardiac massage and assisting with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Provides ventilator support to all patients (neonates, pediatric and adults).
• Assist in transporting mechanically ventilated patients for various procedures in and outside hospital premises.
