An Assistant Cook/Messman on a cargo ship is responsible for supporting the ship's cook in preparing and serving meals for the crew. This may include tasks such as food preparation, cooking, cleaning, and maintaining the kitchen and mess areas. In addition to assisting with cooking, the Assistant Cook/Messman is also responsible for cleaning the galley and other food preparation areas, monitoring food inventory levels, and performing other duties as assigned by the cook or other supervisory personnel. The Assistant Cook/Messman plays a vital role in ensuring that the crew is well-fed and that the ship's kitchen and mess areas are kept clean and sanitary.
