Administer postpartum medications; administer blood transfusion as ordered. Render post Cesarean Section care including early ambulation and removing of foleys catheter, wound dressing, hemovac drain removal, etc. Educate and counsel patients on continual care of mother and baby after delivery. Educate mothers with their postpartum care, the care of their newborn infant and assist with breastfeeding. Nursing competencies include, but not limited to palpate fundus noting location, consistency, observe lochia for color, amount, and consistency. Inspects breasts for tenderness, nipple integrity, and presence of colostrums or milk. Monitor progress of labor per CTG and internal examination per vagina; perform antepartum and postpartum care. Assess and monitor vaginal discharge/ bleeding/ leaking of membrane. Perform pain assessment and management per hospital protocol. Improved effective communication with the patients. Educate patients and families regarding breast feeding, C-section care etc.; including hygiene and other infection control techniques and importance of dietary regimen compliance.
