- Responsible and ensures security and safety of the laboratory facilities, laboratory supplies and laboratory instruments.
- Maintains and monitors the condition of all mechanical equipment if calibration is necessary.
- Maintains control system to monitor laboratory supplies subject for expiry and establishes/utilizes approved stock locator system and updates system as space requirement changes .
- Reports damaged laboratory instruments or non-functioning laboratory facilities to the immediate superior.
-Maintains a stock location rotation plan that ensures stock movement on a first in first out basis
and establishes the minimum stocking level.
- Supervises stock inventories at the end of the fiscal year and periodically directs inventory checks to compare the actual quantity on hand with the inventory record balances .
- Prepare the needed and statistics on monthly and yearly basis for all activities , inventory and transactions.
- Maintains tracking and prepare the requested equipment and supplies to be used during teaching session and ensures that after using the area
and equipment are in good shape .
- Properly, stores chemicals and supplies inside the laboratory and follows up on the disposal of chemical and biological waste.
· Ensure safe custody of laboratory equipment and supplies as per the internal inventory control procedures.
· Observe good housekeeping and total cleanliness of the lab apparatus and the equipment therein in accordance to written procedures.
· Ensure equipment maintenance and calibration records are well maintained with traceability and document daily lab activities and compile reports for submission for the Microbiologist/Laboratory Head.
· Responsible for daily verification of PH meters and analytical balances ensuring precision and accuracy.
· Participate in all lab operations of sample preparation, preparing chemical reagents, sampling raw materials and finished products, conducting sensory and basic sample analysis as required.
· Receive and document all the incoming samples for analysis and ensure all details are entered into Laboratory Information Management System.
· Implement Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) as per written Standard Operating Procedures of the Testing Laboratory.
· To actively participate in ISO 17025 Laboratory Quality Management System documentation for laboratory accreditation.
- Transports laboratory materials and/or specimens to and from other laboratories, as required.
- Prepares standard equipment, facilities, and/or solutions for laboratory experiments, in accordance with detailed procedures and instructions.
- Cleans, breaks down, and stores laboratory equipment, facilities, and supplies after completion of laboratory exercises, as required.
- Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
