BA Broadcast Communication
University of the Philippines Diliman
Hello, my name is Fraulein. /fro.lain/ It is the German language honorific for unmarried women, or in English, Miss. You can call me Frau /froʊ/ or Lyn, which is the name I go by on TV, as both my name and nickname are prone to mispronunciation.
After earning my Broadcast Communication degree from the University of the Philippines in 2011, I worked at TV5 as a television news reporter, covering police, human interest, features, and local events. But for the majority of my 10-year career, I was assigned to cover sports: basketball, the most popular sport in hoops-crazy PH, boxing, and local athletes competing on the international stage.
I produced, wrote, and reported my own stories in Filipino and English, not only for TV but also for social media—Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube—as more Filipinos have turned to digital platforms for access to the news over time.
I’ve also created and maintained my professional social media accounts—Lyn Olavario on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube—which I grew primarily through sports content that I produced.
During the pandemic, I tried my hand at e-commerce, selling pandemic essentials in my online store, which I set up on Instagram and Facebook: MRKT MNL.
I also gained experience in political communications and public relations, as I worked as a senior writer in a presidential campaign for the 2022 national elections.
From time to time, I contribute as a freelance writer for LEAGUE Magazine, which features local government officials and personalities. On weekends, I cover sports as a courtside reporter for the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
And, I would love to help you grow your business as your virtual assistant. Let’s get in touch.
