PhilHealth’s Z Benefit Package coordinator in our institution. The Z Benefits are benefit packages that focus on providing relevant financial risk protection agains illnesses perceived as medically and economically catastrophic. The following are the Z benefits available in our institution: Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (standard risk), Early Breast Cancer (stage 0 to IIIA), Prostate cancer (low to intermediate risk), End-stage renal disease for requiring kidney transplantation (low risk), Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery (standard risk), Surgery for Tetralogy of Fallot in children, Surgery for Ventricular Septal Defect in children, Cervical cancer, Z MORPH (Mobility, Orthosis, Rehabilitation, Prosthesis Help), Selected Orthopedic Implants, Peritoneal Dialysis First for End-stage renal diseases requiring peritoneal dialysis, Colon and Rectum cancer, Children with Disabilities (Developmental, Hearing and Mobility Impairment), Expanded ZMORPH, and Premature or Small Newborns.
Not all hospitals offer these benefit packages. The institutions still have to apply for these packages to make these programs available in a particular area and that is one of my task as a coordinator. I represent our hospital in the Insurance Corporation and at the same time coordinate with the different departments of our hospital. The whole process of implementing and giving the medical services to our patients and at the same time billing and claiming for the services rendered by our hospital from PhilHealth are processes which need perfection.
