I am a Licensed Civil Engineer by Profession.
Social Media Manager seems to be too far from the field of Engineering, but being in both positions at the same time made me realize that these jobs require similar abilities. Here are some of the Engineering abilities that I was able to use as Social Media Manager;
1. Being able to solve critical problem backed up with Numbers of Solutions.
2. As Engineer, I conceptualize and design a project that will satisfy the client, which surprisingly a lot similar as I do as a Social Media Manager.
3. Using Data to check and analyze results. Being backed up with Engineering Statistics helped me a lot understanding the data given by the Insights.
4. Importance of Communication Skills. Being able to explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience helped me to be also able to communicate my ideas and engage with my audience.
Job responsibilities of my two chosen paths are really quite different, but being Social Media Manager made me see the world in different perspective, it excites me, challenges me, and makes me happy.
