• Provide technical assistance and support to the immediate supervisor as unit-in-charge of the animal welfare unit.
• Provide technical assistance to clients regarding reports about animal cruelty.
• Conducts seminars on Animal Welfare.
• Review and concur veterinary health certificates for animal transport purposes.
• Conduct monitoring and inspection of animal facilities confining live animals and feed mills, and feeds, veterinary drugs, products and biologics establishments.
• Conduct pre-assessment and pre-inspection of applications for Good Animal Husbandry Practices for food farms.
• Conduct animal disease surveillance and monitoring for animal diseases, such as Avian Influenza and African swine fever, and submit reports afterwards.
• Prepare and submit technical papers, periodic reports, special updates, and other related tasks as required.
• Experience as a Farm Veterinarian, doing daily rounds, examining animals, treating diseases, administering medications and writing reports for the Farm in-charge.
• Conducts animal health monitoring of all livestock and poultry-related projects implemented by the Department of Agriculture Regional Office.
• Conducts livestock and poultry production trainings, animal health care and management and other related topics.
• Does inventories, keeps animal records and encodes the procedures done on the animals in the farm into the farm database.
• Encodes the animal description and health records of newly arrived livestock.
• Edits and updates existing information from the database and ensures that they coincide.
• Also makes the required paperwork, such as animal health certificates, livestock death certificates, letters of immediate disposal of certain animals and necropsy reports.
• Assists in the preparation of livestock and poultry-related proposals
• Assists in the actual distribution of projects and items.
• Conducts animal health activities, such as deworming, vaccination, and vitamin and ectoparasiticide administration for the livestock and poultry animals.
• Conducts blood collection and fecalysis for animal health monitoring of the livestock and poultry animals of the farm.
• Operates medical equipment, such as ultrasound, to aid in the diagnosis of pregnancy and other potential internal diseases.
• Recommends unproductive animals for disposal and performs necropsies as needed.
• Experience as a Small Animal Veterinarian, doing daily consultations, examinations, diagnosis and treatment of sick animals.
• Encodes the client and pet information into the hospital database.
• Write down the animal description, diagnosis, procedures performed and medications given to the patient and encodes it into the hospital database.
• Follows up on patients via phone calls and text messages and sending reminder notifications.
• Perform examination, diagnosis and treatment of sick companion animals.
• Performing emergency and elective surgeries.
• Administering vaccines for common animal diseases
• Advise animal owners about the general care of their pets. Advise animal owners on the importance of giving timely preventative medicines for their beloved pets.
• Operate medical equipment, like X-ray and ultrasound machines, to aid in the confirmation of pregnancy and the diagnosis of animal diseases.
• Educate animal owners about diseases and infections transferable from animal to man and advise them on what to do when they are exposed.
• Perform humane euthanasia of animals in cases of terminal illness and when the animal’s quality of life is irreversibly compromised.
