Why does God not lead us to our own path? 

God wants us to take the long route to test our obedience to Him if it is not by force but by choice.

God wants to see that our obedience to Him and His laws is motivated by our undying love for Him, not by a desire to obtain something.

When it comes to our parents, we sometimes only obey them because we want something from them; we want a new cellphone, bag, dress, and so on, and they can give it to us.

What if we do the same to the Lord? We only go to Him when we have a problem. We can only think of praying. We can only think of embracing Him when we have problems that no one else can solve. 

Let us make it a habit to obey the Lord even if we are not expecting something in return.
