Doctor in Physical Therapy
A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) is a healthcare professional who specializes in treating patients with mobility or functional impairments. They are trained to diagnose and manage various musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and cardiovascular conditions through the use of exercises, manual therapy, and other interventions. DPTs work with individuals across the lifespan, from infants to older adults, to help them restore movement, reduce pain, and improve overall physical function. In addition to clinical practice, DPTs may also engage in research, education, and advocacy related to physical therapy.
Bachelor in Science in Physical Therapy
The goal of a physical therapy bachelor's degree program is to train students for work as physical therapists. The main areas of study are human anatomy, kinesiology, biomechanics, physiology, and pathology. Students will graduate with the skills and knowledge necessary to diagnose, assess, and treat patients with musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and cardiovascular conditions. Students will learn therapeutic exercises, manual treatment methods, and how to use modalities like ultrasound and electrical stimulation in order to improve patients' functional capacities. Graduates of this program can find employment as licensed physical therapists in a range of facilities, such as clinics, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and private offices.
