Deck Cadet
As a Deck Cadet, you will be undergoing training to become a qualified officer in the deck department of a vessel. Under the supervision of senior officers, you will stand watch on the vessel's bridge, maintaining a lookout for other vessels, navigational hazards, and changes in weather conditions. You will learn to operate navigational equipment, monitor the vessel's position, and contribute to safe navigation. Assist with chart corrections, navigational calculations, and updating navigational charts. Participate in cargo operations, including loading, stowing, securing, and discharging cargo. You will learn about cargo handling procedures, cargo documentation, and how to ensure the safe and efficient transport of goods.

Is an entry-level position within the maritime industry. Performs work pertaining to general maintenance, repair, sanitation, and upkeep of material, equipment, and areas that are the responsibility of the Deck Department. Assist with general deck operations, including mooring and anchoring the vessel, handling lines, and operating deck machinery under the supervision of senior crew members. Stand watch as assigned, monitoring the vessel's surroundings for potential hazards, maintaining a lookout for other vessels, floating debris, or navigational obstacles. Report any unusual observations to the bridge team. And assists to any desk work on ship with the use of Microsoft tools.
